Gettysburg

One of my favorite places to tour was Gettysburg in Pennsylvania. It was very interesting to me considering that I'm a descendant of Abraham Lincoln. We were able to tour around the battle site and to view the many monuments placed throughout. It was a very hot day and we tried not to stay outside too long. But I was able to ponder about the many sad things that happened there and all the lives that were lost. It really is amazing when you're actually able to see the places that you read about in history.

The confederate soldiers came through that tree line and the union soldiers were closer to were I was taking the picture. This particular area is famous for the deadly "Pickett's Charge" where the confederates were repulsed and suffered heavy losses.

Some of the many monuments that are scattered throughout the battle grounds.

Family picture by the actual cannons that were used during the battles.

An awesome monument that sits on top of Little Round Top. It was built by the state of New York for the 12th New York and 44th New York Infantry Regiments. It's like a mini castle.

Silly Jacob and Jenny in the top of the New York monument.

Chilling in the top of the monument.

Statue to President Abraham Lincoln

Behind the flag is a grave with Mary or an Angel on it; that is the grave of the only civilian causality of the entire battle, Jennie Wade.
